Empoderalta

EmpoderAlta is the first altinha school exclusively for women, created with the purpose of transforming lives through sport. Founded in Rio de Janeiro, it was born from the need to offer a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where women of all ages and skill levels can learn, practice, and develop in altinha with confidence. More than teaching a sport, EmpoderAlta promotes autonomy, physical strengthening, self-esteem, belonging, and connections among women. The classes are structured so that each student can progress at her own pace, respecting her limitations and celebrating her achievements. The environment encourages cooperation instead of competition, creating a community in which each participant feels supported to overcome challenges inside and outside the roda. In addition to regular classes, EmpoderAlta holds group classes, events, experiences, and conversation circles that strengthen the bonds among participants and encourage reflection on topics relevant to women's lives. The school also develops social initiatives through the project "Jogue Alta, Sonhe Grande," which seeks to expand access to sport for women in different social contexts, using altinha as a tool for inclusion, education, leadership, and transformation. Since its creation, EmpoderAlta has already impacted the lives of hundreds of women, showing that sport can be a powerful instrument for promoting health, well-being, confidence, and empowerment. Each class represents an opportunity to discover new abilities, build friendships, and occupy spaces that have historically been seen as predominantly male. EmpoderAlta's mission is to democratize women's access to altinha, building an ever-growing community of players who find in sport a path to personal development, freedom, and the construction of healthier relationships. Its vision is to become a national and international reference in promoting women's altinha, inspiring other initiatives that use sport as a tool for social transformation. Its values are respect, inclusion, welcome, women's protagonism, cooperation, ethics, diversity, and the belief that every woman has the right to occupy any space with confidence, safety, and joy.
